Al rededor de un 20% de los que acuden al Instituto Francés de Columna Biziondo, son pacientes que han sido previamente operados. En algunos casos han tenido un mal diagnóstico de su problema de columna, en otros casos se les han realizado intervenciones con tornillos sin asociar un disco. Son pacientes que acuden a nuestro centro con mucho dolor y la decisión de realizar otra cirugía es más compleja. Primeramente hay que valorar los riesgos, además de ver si esta intervención va a resolver los problemas del paciente y si realmente merece la pena.

In other cases, screws block the levels where they were placed, causing the upper and lower levels to become unbalanced. In these cases, the solution is to replace the disc in the upper or lower portion, and the problem is resolved.
There is a percentage of patients who undergo surgery for whom pain relief cannot be guaranteed, as there may be neuropathic damage to the nerves. It may also be that the risks outweigh the benefits. It is always important for the spine specialist to provide patients with a comprehensive report on the risks and benefits of repeat spinal surgery.
Patients who have previously undergone spinal surgery are complicated, yet 80% of them can find solutions to their spinal problems. This leaves only 20% where the risks of surgery outweigh the benefits.
